IAA MOBILITY 2023, mobility platform announces commitments from the world's leading automotive and tech companies

Berlin/Munich, January 18, 2023

New IAA MOBILITY 2023 concept with enhanced platforms for professional audience and general public – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be inaugurating IAA MOBILITY 2023

This year's IAA MOBILITY 2023 in Munich will be optimized with enhanced platforms to better provide attendees with the information they desire. While the Open Space in downtown Munich will focus on B2C audience, the IAA Summit will be established as a B2B platform. This new focus, as well as commitments from some of the world's leading automotive and tech companies for the second edition of the new IAA MOBILITY in Munich from September 5-10, 2023, solidifies its position as a global A-list show.

"The IAA MOBILITY 2023 as a platform intensifies the dialog with stakeholders from business, media, politics and society. Together, we want to set new and cross-sectoral thought leadership for the future of mobility in 2023. This is underlined by our new motto: Experience Connected Mobility.", says Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industrie.

"Messe München, as a partner of IAA MOBILITY 2023, will once again host the event in September and wants to represent Munich as a city of innovation. We believe, it is particularly important in such challenging times, that all players in the mobility industry are visible in their diversity to demonstrate their future viability and to seek dialog with society. We want to anchor this crucial format firmly in the global industry and among everyone who wants to get involved in mobility. The aim is to show what will move people tomorrow, from cars to micro-vehicles and bicycles to innovative solutions for public transport. And always in focus: sustainability and the technologies, which will be shaping mobile life in the future," say the CEOs of Messe München, Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer and Stefan Rummel.

IAA MOBILITY is regarded as the world's central meeting point for the automotive industry
In 2021, IAA MOBILITY established itself as the leading global platform for mobility, sustainability, and technology. The participation of 744 exhibitors, over 400,000 visitors and the evaluation of the representative visitor survey by "Gelszus Messe-Marktforschung" proves how successful the last IAA MOBILITY was in setting new customer behavior. In particular, the range of B2B contacts at the IAA Summit and the Conference on the exhibition ground were rated highly positive across the board. For the initiation of new business contacts, 79% of visitors of IAA MOBILITY 2021 rated the B2B platform as "good" or even "excellent.”

IAA MOBILITY 2021 continued to be rated as an "important platform for general market orientation" by 89% of the visitors as "good" or "excellent.” It was rated similarly valuable by trade visitors for "preparing investments and concluding purchases (74%)" and as an important contact point for "expanding one's own specialist knowledge (89%).”

This year’s IAA Summit, located in the Munich exhibition halls, will build upon that again. Leading automotive manufacturers such as BMW, BYD, Ford, Leapmotor, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen will present their future-oriented innovations.

“BMW Group is already looking forward to the second IAA MOBILITY in Munich. There, we will show how we will make the mobility of tomorrow more sustainable and at the same time more human with technology”, says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

“The advanced concept for the second IAA in Munich underlines once more the awareness, that the goal of sustainable mobility can only be archived together – in a close exchange between industry, science, politics, the media, and customers. IAA provides an important platform for that. At Mercedes-Benz, we are looking forward to it”, says Ola Källenius, chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz.

In addition, leading suppliers such as Bosch, Brose Fahrzeugteile, Continental, FORVIA Hella, Hyundai MOBIS, MAGNA, MAHLE, Siemens, Webasto and ZF have also joined the exhibition space as B2B exhibitors.

"More and more people and goods around the world are on the move. With increasingly electric driving, we are making road traffic more and more sustainable, with the help of software and advanced assistance systems even safer, and new services are creating excitement on the go. As one of the world's most important mobility events, IAA MOBILITY is a good platform for us to introduce people to our ideas and solutions for the mobility of tomorrow. That's why we're delighted to be in Munich again this year," says Dr. Markus Heyn, executive director of Bosch and chairman of the Mobility Solutions business sector.

Greater focus on future technology and urban mobility
In accordance with the IAA motto “Experience Connected Mobility,” IAA MOBILITY 2023 places a greater focus on the ongoing digitalization process within the mobility sector. With confirmations from leading tech companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Luminar, and Qualcomm, the IAA Summit, as a B2B networking platform, offers optimal opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and forming new partnerships. Electronics companies such as Hamamatsu Photonics as well as institutions from the research sector like the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft or the German Aerospace Center (DLR) will be among the exhibitors.

“IAA Mobility offers AWS a tremendous opportunity to forge cross-industry relationships and demonstrate how the cloud can help transform the entire mobility landscape – from supply chain, product design and engineering to software development and data analytics,” said Kathrin Renz, Vice President for Industries, AWS. “We are deeply committed to helping support the automotive industry’s transition towards more sustainable, software defined vehicles, and excited to highlight our work with customers across the industry.”

"IAA Mobility continues to be a premier meeting ground for the world's top automotive tech companies and automakers, and a great place for Luminar to discuss the benefits of lidar for passenger cars with automakers that are interested in improving active safety today and unlocking highway autonomy", says Jason Eichenholz, Co-Founder and CTO.

Micro mobility and charging infrastructure grow at IAA Summit
IAA MOBILITY 2023 will cover all facets of mobility and offer an overarching platform for sustainable mobility. Several bike manufacturers like Brose eBikes will join again the IAA Mobility. Micro mobility manufacturers such as myStromer, energy suppliers and battery companies such as EnBW, CATL or Farasis Energy are also part of the program. IAA MOBILITY in Munich thus advances to the leading global meeting event for future mobility.

Chancellor Scholz will inaugurate IAA MOBILITY
The IAA Summit is not only a meeting point for relevant actors of different future-shaping sectors – but also the venue for vibrant proactive discourse between stakeholders, politicians, NGOs as well as cities and municipalities. In the “Citizens Lab” at Open Space, downtown Munich, a vibrant discourse on sustainable concepts of future mobility will also take place. In the “Citizens Lab,” everyone is welcome to participate in the discussions.
IAA MOBILITY will be inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz. German Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, Volker Wissing and the Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder will also visit the IAA Mobility. The participation by other high-level political representatives, as part of the IAA Conference for instance, is expected.
