As the third generation of Taylor family leadership at Enterprise Mobility, Chrissy Taylor rose through the ranks to hold 17 different positions in North America and Europe before she was elevated to her current role as president and CEO in 2020. She is only the fourth CEO in Enterprise Mobility’s more than 65-year history and has worked in nearly every aspect of the business during her tenure, starting as an intern.
Today, Chrissy continues to foster the promote-from-within culture that has enriched her own professional career. She has also worked to advance the adoption of new technologies to drive customer excellence, while pushing the boundaries within the mobility sector.
What do you want to present at IAA MOBILITY, or what will you be speaking about at IAA MOBILITY?
I’m excited to join some of the brightest minds in the mobility industry at IAA MOBILITY in Munich this September. Enterprise Mobility sits at the nexus between the vehicle, technology and meeting the everyday mobility needs of people.
This event is a great opportunity to help people better understand Enterprise Mobility’s diverse portfolio of offerings. While many people know Enterprise Mobility for its car rental brands, the organization has expanded significantly—both in terms of geography and mobility customer segments.
I’ll be sharing more about our recent transformation to Enterprise Mobility—in late 2023, we underwent a corporate brand shift, reflecting our evolution from a fleet of just seven cars in 1957 to a global network of mobility solutions that serves consumers, businesses and governments, with solutions ranging from car rental and fleet management to car sales, truck rental and more.
I am also looking forward to discussing our role in ushering in the next era of mobility. We are firmly focused on the future and with advances in innovation and breakthroughs in mobility evolving at a rapid pace, we see incredible opportunities for partnerships and collaborations to bring new mobility offerings to customers.
Which technological developments do you think will have the greatest impact on mobility in the coming years?
The mobility industry is evolving, and technology is playing a major role in shaping its future. Innovations like electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence are all poised to transform the way people get from point A to point B—our focus is on determining how we can best use these technologies to meet customers’ evolving mobility needs, while enhancing the customer experience still further.
Enterprise Mobility plays a unique role in the mobility ecosystem—every day, consumers have a chance to experience new technology when they ride in our vehicles. That gives us an incredible opportunity to create awareness, offer positive experiences with new features and shape adoption in a way that makes sense for customers.
Our approach is the same whether it’s AI, EVs or any new technology—we assess and learn how we can use these tools and technologies to deliver a better customer experience. We’re constantly listening to customers and team members for guidance on where to go next. In all cases, it is an evolution.
What are your goals for IAA MOBILITY 2025, and which topics are your main focus?
I’m excited to hear fresh perspectives from vehicle manufacturers, mobility leaders, customers and partners around the world, share Enterprise Mobility’s vision and solutions for the future of mobility and explore new opportunities to drive the industry forward together.
One of my main focuses will be on continuing to optimize the customer experience—leveraging modern technology, developing new tools and streamlining processes that will make mobility more seamless, efficient and sustainable for everyone. Ultimately, we’re committed to growing the business in a way that meets the needs of an increasingly complex world.
Which important future topic do you think is not receiving enough attention in the mobility debate?
People. In all the conversations about new vehicle technology and the rapidly changing landscape around us, it’s easy to overlook the fact that mobility is ultimately about people. The people who use the mobility service, and the people who provide it. In a competitive job market, it's crucial to recognize mobility as an appealing career path—an opportunity to influence a crucial aspect of daily life, facilitating the movement of people, goods and services.
Enterprise Mobility’s 90,000-strong global team is truly our greatest asset and differentiator. Whether we’re exploring new technology or examining operations, it’s critical that we don’t lose sight of the tens of thousands of team members who come to work every day, and the millions of customers who are relying on us to get wherever they need to be.
My grandfather, Jack Taylor, built Enterprise Mobility on a simple business philosophy that guides us to this day: “Take care of your customers and employees first, and everything else will follow.” As mobility has evolved, so have we, but our focus always remains on people first.
In which area of mobility do you see the greatest potential – and where is there still room for improvement?
There is no shortage of exciting technology in this space. Long-term success will depend on collaboration across the vehicle and mobility value chain to ensure these innovations are both viable and accessible.
Take EVs, for example. At Enterprise Mobility, we are working with partners, clients and customers globally to understand their needs and put electrification programs and pilot efforts into place. In Germany, we support companies and the public sector, such as municipalities, in adopting EVs to respond to employees’ travel needs. Often, our dedicated EVs are made available as part of a car-sharing model. This way we provide the opportunity to try out electromobility in everyday life, and at the same time, increase utilization of the fleet to maximize efficiency.
While there is a lot of excitement around EVs, infrastructure is one of the biggest barriers to widespread adoption and needed to help enable people to travel long distances and between countries. That’s why a long-term perspective—with the customer at the center—is the best path to a sustainable electric future.
Which partners or stakeholders would you like to connect with at IAA MOBILITY, and why?
Given our role in the automotive value chain, I’m excited to be on-site at IAA MOBILITY connecting with vehicle manufacturers, key partners, customers and stakeholders from across the world to discuss the future of mobility and technological innovation.
This year is particularly special as we recently celebrated 30 years in Europe, with operations in the UK opening in 1994 followed by Germany and Ireland in 1997. Today, including franchise markets, we serve more than a half billion people across 38 European markets. IAA MOBILITY provides a natural opportunity to strengthen our relationships with leaders in the region and globally.
How do you envision the future of mobility – and what specific changes do you expect in the next ten years?
The next decade will bring plenty of exciting changes, and we’re committed to shaping a future where mobility is more seamless, efficient and responsive to the needs of partners, customers and the communities we operate in. To achieve this, we must continue to deliver exceptional customer service and bring new innovations forward to meet the rapidly evolving mobility needs of consumers, businesses and governments.
We’re actively investing in the future of mobility, and thanks to our family ownership, we’re able to continuously reinvest in the business and think for the long term.
