What to Expect on September 12

Day 4 of IAA MOBILITY once again offers a wide range of highlights. The final events of the IAA Summit and the IAA Conference will also take place at the end of the day.

At the IAA Summit, the Networking Tours (daily, 9:45 AM – 11:15 AM, 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM) and Mobility Meetings (twice daily, 10:00 AM, 1:30 PM) continue, offering visitors the opportunity to join guided tours of selected exhibitor booths and gain curated insights from on-site experts.

Also taking place from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM in Room 12 at the ICM is the AKTIONfahrRAD Teachers' Conference, aimed at all educators who want to promote cycling in schools. The event features best practice examples from schools and offers workshops on bike-related topics such as maintenance and technology.

At 10:00 – 10:20 AM, the session “Powering the SDV Future Horizon with Google Cloud & Accenture” (12:30–12:50 PM, Hall B1 – Booth B10) explores how cloud technologies are accelerating the development of software-defined vehicles and enabling new business models.

Also at 10:00 AM, the session “Urban Mobility – FC Bayern Munich” (Hall B1 – Booth B10) presents the club’s mobility initiatives and demonstrates how a sports organization can take responsibility in an urban context.

This is followed by MOIA – 4 Deep Dives (10:20–11:40 AM, Hall B1 – Booth B10), which showcases four ridepooling projects and offers insights into the future of urban mobility.

Immediately after, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, another session will delve into FC Bayern Munich’s concrete mobility initiatives.

To wrap up the Summit program, there’s a special highlight: “Honking Together for the Big IAA MOBILITY Finale”. For five minutes starting at 5:55 PM, the trade fair center Messe München will be transformed into a soundscape as exhibitors and visitors honk their horns together to create an emotional finale.

The Main Stage will be closed on the final day at the trade fair center Messe München. However, in the morning, the spotlight will be on the Yellow Forum in Hall A1, where the question of how many autonomous shuttles Germany will need in the future takes center stage. The session “The Future of Autonomous Public Transport – How Many Shuttles Does Germany Need?” (10:15–10:45 AM) explores potential scenarios for deploying self-driving vehicles and highlights both the opportunities and challenges associated with this technology.

Throughout the day, the Visionary Club LinkedIn Live will deliver a series of quick, thought-provoking sessions on the Blue Forum. At 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 12:00 PM, these sessions will tackle current issues in the digital and mobility sectors, offering sharp insights into emerging trends from companies like BMW, Microsoft, JobRad Loop, TomTom, and BCG.

The IAA Experience also continues: At the trade fair center Messe München, professional visitors can experience automated driving firsthand during the ADAS & Telematics Demonstrations. Meanwhile, over 232 vehicles from 22 different exhibitors are available for test drives both in the city center and at the Summit.

The C-ITS Roadshow on the A94 highway showcases how vehicles and infrastructure can work together intelligently.

Bike and e-bike enthusiasts can hit the Cycling & Micromobility Course on Ludwigstraße or test out new models on the 4 km Cycling Test Track in the English Garden.

The experience is rounded out by Innovation Cases from Bosch, Mahle, Snapdragon, and INYO Mobility, who are showcasing their technologies both at the trade fair center and in the Open Space.

There’s also plenty to experience in downtown Munich today. On the Family Trail at Wittelsbacherplatz, visitors can take part in the “Great KIA Car Hunt” (11:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Station 7), where KIA models can be discovered in a playful way throughout the Open Space.

At Marienplatz, Mercedes-Benz invites children and families to join in at “Welcome Kids” (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Residenz Apothekenhof, Family Trail Station 8). At the Citizen Lab at Marienplatz, the session “Smart City Munich – How Citizens Benefit from Digitalization” (1:15 – 1:45 PM) explores the opportunities digital technologies offer for everyday urban life. Later, from 4:15 – 5:00 PM, representatives from various political parties will discuss the future of mobility in Munich, the design of public spaces, and key policy decisions for the years ahead.
