What to Expect at IAA MOBILITY on September 11

On the third day of IAA MOBILITY, numerous professional events will take place, German race car driver Sophia Flörsch will be visiting the show, and once again, there will be countless exciting insights into the world of mobility.

Large crowd enters a convention center at IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich.

At the IAA Summit, the Networking Tours (daily at 9:45–11:15 AM, 1:00–2:30 PM, and 3:00–4:30 PM) and Mobility Meetings (twice daily at 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM) continue, offering visitors the opportunity to join guided tours of selected exhibitor booths and gain curated, expert insights on-site.

Also taking place on Day 3 is the IAA MOBILITY Hackathon by prototype.club (Hall B2, D107, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM). For one day, Hall B2 transforms into a live stage for tech talent. The IAA MOBILITY Hackathon by prototype.club features several digital.auto hack challenges that focus on real-world use cases in the field of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV). Participating companies include Bosch, Mendix, OPMobility, Audi, Deloitte, Google Cloud, and many others.

In addition, Autobahn GmbH will present two key topics:

  • The ELISA project (electrified, innovative heavy-duty transport on highways), which has been working since 2017 on the planning, approval, and construction of Germany’s first eHighway infrastructure (Hall A2, D11, 11:00–11:30 AM).

  • Insights into the development of fast-charging infrastructure along highways (Hall A2, D11, 2:30–3:00 PM).

Elsewhere, the session “Safe, Fast, Innovative: Why the Future of Vehicle Software Is Open” (ICM, Room 13b, 1:00–3:00 PM) will feature automotive industry experts discussing a new initiative for cooperative software development aimed at faster product cycles, enhanced safety, and an improved digital customer experience.

Meanwhile, CARIAD invites attendees to the Auto x Software Conference (10:30 AM – 5:40 PM) at the Volkswagen Group booth (Hall B1, D10) under the theme “Putting People First with Automotive Software.”
Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, CARIAD CEO Peter Bosch, and other senior executives will join tech and industry leaders such as Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, Horizon Robotics CEO Kai Yu, and Florence Verzelen, Executive Vice President of Dassault Systèmes, to discuss the role of software and AI in customer experience, vehicle development, and value creation.

The Volkswagen Group will also offer insights into its software strategy, including its modular and scalable software technology stack and AI-based key technologies like infotainment, automated driving, and the Software-Defined Vehicle. The event will further explore new approaches to fostering innovation in large corporations—drawing inspiration from other industries.

Summit-Program

At the IAA Conference, Brian Witten, Vice President & Chief Product Security Officer at Aptiv, will speak in the session “The Great Tech Convergence: How AI, 5G, and IoT are Reshaping Mobility & More” (Main Stage, Hall A2, 10:00–10:30 a.m.), where he will demonstrate how IoT, AI, and 5G are shaping seamless, personalized experiences across industries—paving the way for a safer, more personalized, and more connected future of mobility. From AI-powered autonomous systems and secure connected fleets to the broader impact of these technologies on the automotive industry, aerospace, telecommunications, and robotics.

At midday, Enrico Salvatori, SVP and President of Qualcomm Europe, will take the stage in the session “Revolutionizing Mobility: How AI is Shaping Next-Generation Vehicles” (Main Stage, Hall A2, 2:30–2:45 p.m.), explaining how AI and cloud-based development platforms are accelerating the shift to software-defined vehicles and opening up new opportunities across the entire automotive ecosystem.

Later in the day, Magnus Östberg (CSO, Mercedes-Benz AG) and Jørgen Behrens (VP & GM, Google Maps Automotive) will explore in their session “The Mercedes-Benz & Google Partnership: Building the Next-Generation In-Vehicle Experience, Together” (Main Stage, Hall A2, 3:15–3:45 p.m.) how OEMs can use foundational technologies to develop uniquely branded, AI-powered in-car experiences—from advanced navigation and ADAS features to intuitive AI applications—while maintaining full control over branding and design.

The session “Autonomous Driving – Technology, Projects, and Prospects” (Main Stage, Hall A2, 4:15–5:00 p.m.) will offer insights into a range of autonomous driving projects in San Francisco, Shanghai, Oslo, and Hamburg.

The final session on Day 3 of the Main Stage, titled “Chances and Risks in the Semiconductor Value Chain for Automotive,” will examine current challenges as well as potential resilience strategies and opportunities presented by European initiatives, recycling, and new technologies to ensure reliable supply chains for semiconductors and critical raw materials.

Meanwhile, a four-part series titled “Women Leader Afternoon” on the Summit Stage will spotlight people as the key success factor in transformation.

It kicks off with a panel discussion on leadership diversity: Sandra Dax (CEO/COO Pininfarina Germany), Barbara Burghardt (SVP HR, BMW Group), and Anna Trunk (Head of Corporate Infrastructure and Services, Cariad) will discuss why getting more women into top leadership roles is not just a matter of fairness, but a strategic imperative—and how companies can implement true diversity.

Immediately following, the discussion will focus on how to attract and retain top talent—especially women—in the mobility sector during times of change. From new approaches to recruitment to designing work environments that retain and re-engage underrepresented talent, participants will gain actionable insights on how to build a high-performing and diverse workforce—now and in the future.

In a high-level fireside chat, VDA President Hildegard Müller and Christiane Benner, First Chairwoman of IG Metall, will discuss the transformation of Germany as an automotive hub—and how companies and labor unions can work together to shape this change. Topics will include the balance between technological innovation and social responsibility, and what political decisions are needed now to ensure Germany’s automotive industry remains competitive on the global stage.

The program will conclude with a “Women in Mobility” roundtable featuring Ikbal Kröll, Expert in Global Hydrogen Strategy at Daimler Truck AG. The session will focus on fleet electrification and offer practical perspectives on charging infrastructure, energy supply, and the role of women leaders in driving transformation.
