IAA MOBILITY 2023: DeepDrive presents world premiere

2 years ago, at IAA MOBILITY 2021, DeepDrive, a high-tech company based in Munich, Germany, presented an innovative platform for electric vehicles with integrated wheel hub motors, for the first time. DeepDrive’s purpose for the platform was to solve several problems of today's electric vehicles, first and foremost the issues of cost, efficiency and installation space. The idea was to offer plug-and-play vehicle platforms that are modular and flexibly scalable thanks to the wheel hub motors. Today, the company, which was recently awarded Best Munich Startup 2023 at Munich Startup Festival, focuses exclusively on the electric drives themselves, which are based on DeepDrive's dual rotor technology and offer two innovative products: the wheel hub motor and the central drive. While DeepDrive's wheel hub drive has already been introduced at IAA MOBILITY 2021, the central drive will be presented as a world premiere at IAA MOBILITY 2023

By 2026, DeepDrive wants to present its drive for electric cars in mass production.

The trick: its patented drive technology achieves exceptionally high torque density and efficiency and is both very cost-effective and easy to manufacture on a large scale. Another advantage is that the motors increase the range of electric vehicles by up to 20 percent. In addition, the motor requires a smaller amount of rare earths than conventional designs, which plays a crucial role in carbon emission reduction.

The company, whose founders met 10 years ago in the student motorsport team at the Technical University of Munich and which today comprises more than 50 experts from leading companies in the automotive industry, is now working with 8 of the 10 largest car manufacturers on various development projects. Starting in 2026, the company plans to mass produce its drive for electric cars.
