New cars in 2023 - these models will soon be hitting the showrooms
The will to make the switch is here. Automakers are pushing hard to electrify their models. Most new models unveiled in 2023 are likely to sport an E-license plate if that's what the owner wants.
These vehicles will finally roll into showrooms in 2023 and will attract special attention:
Novelty #1: BMW 5 Series/i5
Its debut is scheduled for fall. Around IAA MOBILITY 2023 in Munich, the Bavarians' volume model will be unveiling its shells. After all, the international auto show is a hometown event for BMW and will be used to show off in a big way again. For the first time since its market launch in 1972, the new BMW 5 Series will also be available as a fully electric car - named i5. Its design is not quite as opulent as its bigger brother, the i7, whose giant radiator grill has caused heated discussions among BMW fans.
Novelty #2: MINI
This year, MINI will also be celebrating another premiere. Since BMW took the MINI brand under its wings in 2001, the iconic English vehicle has been redesigned three times. The fourth strike will follow in 2023. It is known that, just like the current model, it will be launched on the market as an E variant again and with an internal combustion engine. However, the all-electric MINI will only be produced in China and will be manufactured as part of a joint venture between MINI’s parent company BMW and Great Wall. Experts estimate the range of the electric version to be around 400 kilometers the least.
Novelty #3: smart
Let's stay on the subject of joint ventures right away: the next smart comes exclusively as a small electric SUV and was developed in a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and the Chinese Geely Group. The Chinese partner will develop and build all the new smart models in future. Solely its design is created in Germany. The electric SUV is also going to be delivered with a range of at least 400 kilometers. A four-door coupé model is expected to follow by the end of 2023. Again, a good occasion to bring the brand's new era closer to the inclined audience at IAA MOBILITY. A third model is reportedly planned for 2024. The German-China alliance is accelerating, it seems.
Novelty #4: Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV
It can no longer be denied: Germans love SUVs. Almost every third new car is an SUV model, now. The company, based in Stuttgart intertwines this trend with electromobility and is going to launch the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV in 2023. Its battery is said to have a range of up to 558 kilometers. Insiders predict high demand for the model's versions: the all-electric SUV in the order of magnitude of a GLE will also delight its fans as an all-wheel-drive and AMG version.
Novelty #5: Ferrari Purosangue
The Ferrari Purosangue is considered THE most exciting car debut in 2023. As with some other luxury car brands, the Italian iconic brand has a lot riding on its first SUV model. That's because the Purosangue (Italian for thoroughbred) surprises with brute engine power - and comes with pure twelve-cylinder naturally aspirated power. Ferrari enthusiasts apparently approve, because production of the Ferrari Purosangue is already out of stock for more than two years. The thoroughbred horse from Maranello is more of a dainty diva, compared to some of its monstrous competitors. At 4.97 meters, this superluxury SUV appears almost slender next to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan or a Bentley Bentayga. This sacrifice of brutal presence in favor of a sleek, sporty silhouette appeals especially in China, where well-heeled audiences appreciate the brand as the ultimate status symbol but no longer want to ride in a low-slung sports car.
Novelty #6 ID.7 GTX
Just a few weeks ago, Volkswagen unveiled the ID.7, the all-electric sedan for the upper midsize class. Now the automaker has announced the sporty GTX model for late summer. The ID.7 GTX will make its debut in September at IAA MOBILITY (September 5-10, 2023) in Munich and will be Volkswagen's third GTX model after the ID.4 and ID.5. Volkswagen's GTX models combine electric mobility, sustainability and intelligent sportiness. Equipped with the latest drive generation of the ID. models, the dual-motor all-wheel drive, the Wolfsburg-based company aims to combine efficiency, dynamics and driving stability. The Driving Dynamics Manager software developed by Volkswagen intelligently controls the dual-motor all-wheel drive as well as all braking, steering and suspension control systems in the long-distance sedan, depending on the selected driving profile. It was already used in the previous GTX models, the ID.4 and ID.5. Comfort and sportiness are also guaranteed by the further development of the chassis and steering of the long-distance sedan, which is based on Volkswagen's modular e-drive system (MEB).
Novelty #7 Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric + Opel Astra Electri
Opel will present three world premieres at IAA MOBILITY. The German automaker from Rüsselsheim, Germany, will present the Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric to the public. The compact-class bestseller will be fully electric for the first time, adding another version to the Opel Astra Electric range. The Opel Corsa Electric will also be unveiled in an even more efficient version with a more powerful engine and more range. The company is keeping quiet about the third world premiere.
A total of 150 new vehicles, versions and facelifts have been announced for this year. So, the choice remains difficult, and the purchase of a new vehicle must be well considered and well thought. Where better to get information than at the world's leading platform for mobility - IAA MOBILITY 2023?
