Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
The Citizens Lab is a free dialogue platform as part of IAA MOBILITY 2025. This welcoming space on Munich’s Marienplatz combines a large covered stage area with exhibition spaces, interactive activities, and places to relax.
Its goal is to bring people together and enable open, solution-oriented dialogue on key issues surrounding the mobility of the future. The Citizens Lab serves as a platform for a wide range of innovations, products, and discussions about how climate-friendly mobility can be shaped between urban and rural areas.
The Citizens Lab is not a professional event. Its citizen-focused dialogues and participatory formats cover both technological and societal topics.
In engaging, easy-to-follow formats, citizens come together with representatives from business, science, politics, and civil society to discuss the future of mobility. Every mode of transportation has its own impact on key issues such as climate protection and climate resilience, urban development, social inclusion, energy production, and resource conservation. The Citizens Lab is a space where all stakeholders are invited to engage in open, respectful, and equal-footing dialogue. All topics and questions are based solely on current scientific findings.
The Citizens Lab is a free offering open to all citizens, members of the urban community, and anyone attending IAA MOBILITY who wishes to actively and constructively take part in this dialogue about the future.
You have the following opportunities to participate in the Citizens Lab:
- Submit a topic for discussion
Is there a mobility-related or sustainability topic close to your heart that you'd like to bring to the public stage in downtown Munich? Starting in spring 2025, you’ll be able to submit a topic along with suggested speakers via the IAA MOBILITY website.
- Attend a session
The Citizens Lab will feature a variety of participatory formats and sessions that invite active involvement. It’s a space for fair, respectful debate, where stage guests will always engage with the audience on equal footing.
