BYD has celebrated the European debut of its premium brand, Denza, in Paris. The brand showcased the all-electric Denza Z9GT shooting brake and the Denza D9 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid minivan.
The Z9GT arrives in its latest version featuring a triple-motor setup with a system output of 1,140 hp (850 kW). Originally unveiled in China two years ago, it can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h). Equipped with a 122.5 kWh battery, it offers a range of approximately 373 miles (600 km). Notably, the Z9GT is the first vehicle in Europe to feature BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and supports the cutting-edge "Flash Charging" system. This system delivers a charging capacity of up to 1,500 kW, allowing the Z9GT to charge from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, and reach 97% in only nine minutes.
The Denza D9 DM-i was also introduced, following its 2022 launch in China. This plug-in hybrid features an all-wheel-drive system, an electric-only range of 130 miles (210 km), and a combined total range of 590 miles (950 km) with a full battery and gas tank.

Moving forward, Denza is positioned to serve as a technology flagship and premium sub-brand, introducing innovations that will later trickle down into other BYD models. The brand’s entry into the European market, along with its focus on ultra-fast charging and innovative architectures, marks a strategic move to compete directly with established European luxury manufacturers.
Originally founded as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, Denza is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD. This new structure allows the brand to operate with full independence as it scales globally.
