Porsche has reached a major milestone in its electrification strategy with the start of series production for the all-electric Cayenne SUV. Just months after its world premiere in mid-November 2025, the new model is now rolling off the assembly line at the multi-brand manufacturing facility in Bratislava, Slovakia. The electric SUV is produced on the same line as the existing internal combustion and hybrid variants, providing the sports car manufacturer with maximum production flexibility to respond to shifting market demand.

New Battery Architecture—"Made in Europe"
A cornerstone of the new Electric Cayenne is Porsche’s significantly expanded in-house battery expertise. The company utilizes high-voltage battery modules developed internally and manufactured in collaboration with Porsche Werkzeugbau GmbH at the "Porsche Smart Battery Shop" in Horná Streda—located about 60 miles northeast of Bratislava. The modules are produced under total quality supervision through a precisely controlled process involving cell preparation, stack formation, laser welding, foaming, cooling plate integration, and end-of-line testing.
Featuring a gross energy capacity of 113 kWh, high energy density, and large pouch cells, the electric Cayenne’s integrated high-voltage battery is designed to enable a range of over 370 miles (600 km) and support 800-volt fast charging. Additionally, the battery features a world-first: double-sided cooling. Two cooling plates regulate the battery’s temperature from both above and below, allowing it to reach and maintain the optimal operating window more effectively.

Advanced Production Infrastructure
The Volkswagen Group’s multi-brand plant in the Devínska Nová Ves district underwent extensive expansion to accommodate the electric SUV. The centerpiece of this transformation is a new platform hall, the "birthplace" of every Electric Cayenne. This is where the skateboard-style chassis is assembled before being fitted with the side panels, roof, doors, hood, and tailgate. These body components are sourced from an on-site press shop which, featuring a nearly fully automated press line, is touted by the company as one of the most modern facilities in Europe.
