During IAA MOBILITY, various episodes of our IAA Visionary Club podcast were recorded live in front of an audience for the first time. In the process, host Sarah Harman welcomed her guests on stage at the Visionary Clubhouse to talk to them about topics such as artificial intelligence, mobility-as-a-service, subscription services, battery technologies, autonomous driving and micromobility.

In episode 2 of this special edition of the IAA Visionary Club podcast, host Sarah Harman talks with Björn Bender (President & CEO at RailEurope) and Thomas Zimmermann (CEO of FreeNow) about the fundamentals of mobility-as-a-service platforms. How can integrated solutions with multiple mobility offerings contribute to the mobility revolution? About the guests:

Björn Bender has been president and CEO of RailEurope since November 2022. Before joining Rail Europe, Björn Bender was Head of Innovation, Research and Incubation at Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), where he previously headed the New Mobility Services business unit. Before joining SBB, he held various positions with Deutsche Bahn in Germany, Italy and Austria to this end. After six years as International Sales Director for Eastern Europe and later Southern Europe, he was VP Sales & Partner Management for New Mobility from 2015 to 2019.   

 In addition, Björn Bender is also a regular guest lecturer at the University of St. Gallen (CH) and a member of the advisory board of the Institute for Mobility. He also founded Mobility Allstars e.V., a non-profit association that aims to accelerate the mobility turnaround in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  

Thomas Zimmermann has been CEO of FREENOW, Europe's super app for mobility, since April 1, 2022. Previously, he was Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at the company since 2018, responsible for marketing and communications activities, marketplace performance, and the data and growth teams. In his role, he initiated comprehensive measures to increase efficiency across the company in addition to the strategic repositioning of the brand. Before joining FREENOW, the business graduate held various management positions, including for the company builder and investor IONIQ Group and the online and mobile games developer Goodgame Studios.
