In an economically and geopolitically turbulent year, IAA MOBILITY 2025 is sending a powerful signal of momentum, demonstrating economic strength through innovative power and passion. From September 9 to 14, Munich will become the global hub for the future of mobility. Hosted by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Messe München, the platform is more international, larger, and more experience-oriented than ever. It brings together the entire mobility sector — from automotive manufacturers and suppliers to tech giants, cycling companies, startups, and public transport providers.
Hildegard Müller, President of the VDA, emphasizes the role of IAA MOBILITY as an "anchor of stability in dynamic times." "Here in Munich, we are showcasing our capabilities with world premieres and impressive innovations. I look forward to our industry sending a confident signal of strength and a future-oriented mentality. We will once again demonstrate what we can achieve with this dynamism, our high investments, passion, and collective effort. The IAA is the global flagship of our industry — an industry that creates growth, prosperity, and jobs in Germany and around the world."
Mobility as a Central Growth Factor
Müller clarifies that the integration of different modes of transport, the networked approach that the IAA represents, is crucial: "Mobility is a central factor for growth, no matter where you are in the world. Mobility — and the options associated with it — not only means more freedom for every individual: where mobility is smartly organized, new perspectives emerge, societies become more innovative, and diverse people are brought together."
Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, the two CEOs of Messe München, state: "IAA MOBILITY fits perfectly into our mega trade fair year of 2025. It brings people from all over the world together at the exhibition grounds and in downtown Munich's Open Space. The coexistence of different modes of transport evolves into an inspiring integration of future-oriented mobility solutions. The Festival of Lights Munich is another enrichment that will excite visitors. At the same time, IAA MOBILITY creates enormous economic value," the two CEOs explain. "We expect a regional economic impact in the hundreds of millions — a gain for the city, the region, and its people."
Pride in Our Industry as a Basis for Collective Effort
With a view to the showcase of innovations, Müller calls for pride in the industry: "When people around the world think of Germany, they also think of our cars. Our brands have global appeal and stand for the highest level of engineering, top quality, and uniqueness. We are constantly reinventing ourselves, and our employees impress with their passion. We are the world's second-largest production location for electric cars; 7 out of 10 electric cars sold in Germany come from German manufacturers, and in Europe, it's every second one. Trust in our industry and our high safety standards is in demand worldwide. We can and should be proud of this here at home. This identification with our key industry also creates cohesion and a shared interest in preserving the prosperity and jobs we create."
She continues: "From this, a new self-confidence can emerge. A self-confidence that ultimately motivates every individual to go the extra mile. Because they want to, because they are proud of what can be achieved together — and of the industry they work for."
IAA MOBILITY Becomes Even More International
The figures for IAA MOBILITY 2025 confirm the high demand. The status of space bookings already exceeds that of the previous event at the same point in time. The international presence is growing.
- More than 50 percent of exhibitors come from abroad, an increase of 5 percent over the last edition.
- Most international exhibitors, 68 percent, come from Asia.
- With 103 exhibitors, Chinese participation has already surpassed the final 2023 number (75 exhibitors) by 37 percent.
- Demand for space is high. The Open Space alone has already booked more area than at the final count of the last IAA MOBILITY.
- Many exhibitors are expanding their presence.
- A quarter of the registered companies are participating for the first time.
The Pillars of IAA at a Glance
IAA Summit: The Meeting Point for Mobility Decision-Makers
The IAA Summit at Munich exhibition center (September 9-12) is the central hub for trade visitors. The IAA Conference held there will feature over 500 international speakers on five stages. Thematic routes will guide visitors to focus areas such as Software-Defined Vehicles, Autonomous Driving, and Battery Tech. A dedicated area with three startup zones will also spotlight young companies presenting their innovations.
The global significance of IAA MOBILITY is reflected in its exhibitor list. Leading automotive manufacturers such as Audi, the BMW Group, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Porsche, smart, the Turkish manufacturer Togg, and the Volkswagen Group will display their latest developments. Particularly noteworthy is the first-time participation of numerous Chinese brands like Aito, Changan, Dongfeng, GAC, Leapmotor, and XPeng.
Leading suppliers such as 3M, Bosch, CATL, Continental, Denso, Hyundai Mobis, Kirchhoff Automotive, Kostal, Magna, Mahle, Schaeffler, Valeo, and the ZF Group are also represented, as are the tech and digital industries. Google will have its own booth, while Accenture, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Google, Horizon Robotics, Mobileye, PwC, Qualcomm, and Samsung shape the technological transformation of mobility. This diversity underscores the claim to represent the entire value chain.
The IAA Experience: Feel and Experience the Future of Mobility
A central goal of IAA MOBILITY is making innovations tangible and experiential, creating touchpoints and overcoming reservations. The IAA Experience offers a unique and comprehensive program for this.
- Test Drives: Demand for test drives was so high that capacities were expanded. A total of 229 vehicles from 22 exhibitors will be available — an increase of more than 26 percent compared to 2023. In the Open Space, models from brands such as Audi, BYD, Chery, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Porsche, and VW can be tested.
- Automated Driving: In the new ADAS & Telematics area, exhibitors such as Aumovio (Continental), Innoviz Technologies, Magna, and Mobileye will demonstrate the latest assistance systems in passenger experience. A special project is the "driving test for automated vehicles," where the TU Munich and DEKRA will test participating systems on a defined route. Additionally, Autobahn GmbH plans an operational area for Level 3 and 4 autonomous driving on the A94, with participation from Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
- Cycling & Micromobility: In the English Garden, a 4 km loop invites visitors to test ride in a natural setting. Exhibitors like Bikeleasing, Bosch, Can-Am, Riese & Müller, and Schwalbe will be present. There is also a course in the Open Space that simulates real road traffic situations.
The stage at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz will offer a varied program, including musical acts like 4PERZENT, Melli Zech, BLYTE, and Alice Viola. Children's entertainment with the DONIKKL Crew is also planned.
Themed days structure the program:
- Friday, September 12, is the IAA Career Day. The focus is on female empowerment, with panel discussions, lectures, and workshops. A networking event with a DJ will conclude the day.
- Saturday, September 13, is the IAA Sports & Young Generation Day. Interactive stage elements, workshops, sports sessions, and concerts are aimed at the younger generation.
- Sunday, September 14, is the IAA Kids Day. The focus here is on knowledge transfer about traffic safety, fun, and games for children and families.
IAA Open Space: A Mobility Festival for the Entire City from September 9 to 14, the IAA Open Space will transform large parts of Munich's city center into a mobility festival, freely accessible to all.
- Over 229 vehicles from 22 exhibitors will be available for test drives.
- A Cycling Test Track in the English Garden and a Micromobility Area complement the offerings.
- The Citizens Lab provides a dialogue platform for citizens with over 60 sessions and workshops.
- Another highlight will be the Festival of Lights Munich, celebrating its premiere in cooperation with IAA MOBILITY.
