Automotive giant Stellantis has announced a far-reaching partnership with chipmaker Nvidia, ride-hailing company Uber, and contract manufacturer Foxconn. Together, they plan to combine their strengths—Stellantis’s global vehicle development and manufacturing expertise, Nvidia’s autonomous driving and AI computing software, Foxconn’s electronics and system integration capabilities, and Uber’s ride-hailing network—to explore, design, and build a new generation of Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
The collaboration will build on Stellantis’s AV-ready platforms—particularly the mid-size light commercial K0 and STLA Small—which are powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 architecture. This includes the safety-certified NVIDIA DriveOS operating system and the full-stack NVIDIA DRIVE AV software (NDAS) developed for Level 4 autonomous functionality.
Foxconn will partner with Stellantis on hardware and system integration, while Uber plans to deploy autonomous Stellantis vehicles in selected cities worldwide—starting with 5,000 units in the United States. Pilot programs and testing will ramp up over the next few years, with production slated to begin in 2028.

At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Mazda introduced two striking concept vehicles—the Vision X-Coupe and Vision X-Compact—showcasing the brand’s future design and technology direction.
The Vision X-Coupe combines a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a two-rotor Wankel engine featuring turbocharging, an electric motor, and a battery system delivering a total output of 375 kW (510 hp). The vehicle’s electric-only range is projected at 160 kilometers (99 miles), with a combined range of up to 800 kilometers (497 miles). Notably, Mazda plans to use CO₂-neutral fuel derived from microalgae and an absorption system called “Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture.”
The Vision X-Compact aims to deepen the connection between driver and machine with an empathetic AI assistant capable of natural-language interaction. It can suggest destinations and tailor the in-car experience to the driver’s mood and preferences.

Mitsubishi also unveiled an ambitious new study at the Japan Mobility Show: the Elevance Concept. Designed as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), it features an engine compatible with CO₂-neutral fuel, combining clean operation with strong performance. Its large traction battery can also power external devices—useful for camping or off-grid activities.
The concept employs Mitsubishi’s new Quad-Motor 4WD System, built on its proprietary Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) technology. A matching trailer prototype was also presented, offering space for gear along with a compact kitchen and shower, both powered by the PHEV system.
A key feature of the Elevance Concept is its AI Co-Driver, displayed on a screen integrated into the steering wheel. The system suggests destinations based on driver preferences while monitoring road and vehicle conditions in real time—automatically selecting the optimal driving mode to enhance safety and comfort.

BYD unveiled the BYD Racco, its first all-electric Kei car designed specifically for the Japanese market. Measuring approximately 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide, and 1,800 mm high, the Racco meets Japan’s official Kei car size regulations precisely.
A small 20 kWh battery is expected to deliver a WLTC range of around 180 kilometers (112 miles). BYD plans to launch the Racco in Japan in the summer of 2026—making it the first foreign manufacturer to enter the Japanese Kei-car segment.

Lexus used the 2025 Japan Mobility Show to showcase several visionary concept models that signal a bold redefinition of the brand’s luxury identity. Central to this vision is a new interpretation of “LS”—no longer “Luxury Sedan,” but “Luxury Space.”
The Lexus LS Concept transforms the classic limousine into a “Luxury Space” with three rows, lounge-like seating, and a serene, open atmosphere emphasizing comfort and spaciousness. The Lexus LS Coupe Concept merges coupe elegance with sedan practicality, while the Lexus LS Micro Concept envisions an upscale single-seater designed for urban minimalism.
The Lexus Sport Concept combines athletic performance with a refined interior, advanced digital displays, and a distinctive yoke-style steering wheel. Finally, the Lexus Catamaran Concept extends the brand’s design language to the sea—a futuristic watercraft that translates Lexus’s commitment to luxury and innovation beyond the road.
