Mercedes-Benz is presenting a new era of electric mobility at IAA MOBILITY in Munich. The world premiere of the new GLC with EQ technology marks the beginning of the brand's largest product offensive. Mercedes-Benz is also showcasing a wide range of current and future electric and electrified vehicles across all brands with the star. The lineup ranges from compact models to performance sedans, luxury SUVs, and full-size luxury cars. Among the vehicles celebrating their premiere in Munich are the new CLA family with both electric and high-tech hybrid powertrains, as well as the fully electric CLA Shooting Brake—the first electric Mercedes-Benz in wagon style. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is offering a first look at the new era of its full-size luxury vehicles with a camouflaged prototype of the new fully electric VLE, set to hit the market in 2026. Visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Pavilion at Apothekenhof in the IAA Open Space will also have access to a fleet of 30 electric and electrified models for test rides. Here, visitors can experience the Mercedes-Benz MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO system with automated point-to-point driving functions during rides in specially prepared CLA models. Additionally, interested parties can take the driver's seat in a fully electric EQS or S-Class with DRIVE PILOT. At the IAA Summit on the exhibition grounds, trade visitors can also experience the fully electric GLC and CLA Shooting Brake models, as well as the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, which provides a preview of the first production model based on the High-Performance AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA).

Chery Automobile is launching in October with two brands—Omoda and Jaecoo—and will present them in advance at IAA MOBILITY. At their IAA appearance, both brands will showcase five electrified SUV models. These include: the Omoda 5 BEV (compact fully electric urban SUV), two plug-in hybrids—Omoda 7 PHEV and Omoda 9 PHEV—and two additional models, the Jaecoo 5 BEV (fully electric, off-road oriented) and the Jaecoo 7 PHEV featuring the newly introduced "Super Hybrid System" platform (SHS). The SHS architecture promises a combined range of over 1,200 km, based on a hybrid powertrain with an 18.3 kWh battery that should enable up to approximately 100 km of pure electric range.

Opel is celebrating the premiere of the new Mokka GSE at IAA MOBILITY, which will be the brand's most powerful fully electric model to date. The Mokka GSE is expected to deliver 207 kW (≈280 hp) and an impressive 345 Nm of torque, accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and reach an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/h. The vehicle will utilize a 54 kWh battery that should provide a range of up to 336 km. Alongside the production version, Opel has already introduced a fully homologated electric rally prototype with the Mokka GSE Rally in 2025—the world's first under the new FIA eRally5 regulations. This prototype will be deployed in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup series starting in 2026.

Exeed, Chery's premium brand, is presenting the new Exlantix E05 at IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich—a compact SUV with range-extender technology. Under the hood, a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 115 kW (≈154 hp) serves as a range extender, combined with an electric motor and a 32.66 kWh LFP battery that should enable all electric ranges of approximately 165 km. The top speed is expected to be 200 km/h. The Exlantix E05 complements the already known larger models Exlantix ET (Sterra ET) and Exlantix ES (Sterra ES). The platform is based on Chery's E0X architecture, which is also used for full hybrid systems (ET) and series BEVs (ES).

Under the designation N-ONE e, Honda has introduced a fully electric kei car compact for the Japanese market—as an expansion of the compact N model lineup alongside the already established N-VAN e. The car remains in the typical kei car format (<3.4 m length), produces a maximum of 63 hp (the legal limit in the kei car segment), and should achieve a range of around 270 km. Orders begin on August 1st, with sales starting planned for fall 2025—initially only in Japan.

California-based startup Morelle is currently working on an e-bike that would be the first to enable charging times under 15 minutes—instead of the usual hours. This is made possible by using silicon anodes, which can store significantly more energy compared to graphite and handle higher charging rates up to 1,500 W at 50 A. The integrated 350 Wh battery pack should reach full charge within approximately 15 minutes, while common models only support about 100-300 W. Morelle combines this with embedded hardware and software in the charger that monitor battery condition and optimize the charging scheme in real-time to maximize lifespan up to 1,000 charge cycles.

At the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025, the Frauscher × Porsche 850 Fantom caused a sensation: With the fully electric powertrain from the Porsche Macan Turbo, the 8.67 m long day cruiser achieved a new record in the Open Sea class of 49.84 knots (approx. 92.3 km/h) average speed over two kilometers. The sport boat is powered by a system with up to 400 kW of power, 800V technology, and DC fast charging up to 270 kW—enabling 80% charging in under 30 minutes. The range varies depending on speed, from approximately 100 km at slow speeds to about 45 km at higher speeds.

US electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has announced plans to open a new research and development office in London. The goal is developing artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technologies, particularly to advance the existing hands-free highway driving system. Rivian views the British market as a globally leading location for AI engineers and wants to recruit talent there.

Subaru has confirmed the launch of three fully electric SUV models for the European market. The portfolio will consist of the compact Uncharted—Subaru's first BEV in its class—the redesigned Solterra, and the completely new E-Outback Crossover. All vehicles will be built on the e-Subaru Global Platform and should be available in countries like the United Kingdom and Germany starting in early 2026. The Uncharted will launch simultaneously in the US and Europe in early 2026.
