Leading up to Auto China, which opens in Beijing on April 24, the Volkswagen Group has announced its largest product offensive in China to date, alongside a roadmap for integrating agent-based Artificial Intelligence into future vehicle generations. This massive offensive aims to launch more than 20 new electrified models in China in 2026 alone. By 2027, the portfolio is expected to grow to approximately 30 models, reaching a total of 50 electrified vehicles by 2030—including around 30 all-electric models. In addition to battery-electric vehicles, the strategy also incorporates plug-in hybrids and range-extender concepts.

This expansion is a core component of the "In China, for China" strategy. Within just 36 months, the Group has developed an entirely new portfolio for smart electric vehicles specifically tailored to the needs of Chinese customers, ranging from design and digital services to advanced driver assistance systems. Strong local R&D capabilities and partnerships with Chinese tech firms serve as the foundation for faster implementation and market launches of innovative technologies. For instance, CARIZON, Volkswagen’s proprietary competence center for intelligent driving, has already reached a major milestone with the timely completion of its first L2-Advanced ADAS solution for Highway Pilot functions (L2+). This system has been in use since the production launch of the ID. UNYX 07 in late 2025. In the second half of this year, the first models featuring an even more comprehensive L2-Advanced ADAS technology (L2++) are set to hit the market, offering functions such as Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) for both urban and highway traffic, as well as automated parking.

At the Volkswagen Group Media Night, FAW-Volkswagen premiered the ID. AURA T6, the first model in the new ID. AURA series. The vehicle is built entirely on the locally developed China Electronic Architecture (CEA), which enables L2++ ADAS and continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates through its high-performance design.

Additionally, Volkswagen Anhui presented the near-production ID. UNYX 09, a 16-foot-long (five-meter) all-electric sedan that integrates state-of-the-art intelligent technologies, including advanced L2++ driver assistance, high-performance computing, and an intuitive AI assistant.

The world premiere of the JETTA X concept car also introduced the new "Modern Robust" design language. The JETTA brand plans to launch four electrified models by 2028, with the first model arriving as early as this year.

Furthermore, following the launch of the AUDI E5 Sportback, the AUDI E7X has made its debut as the second production model and the first SUV developed specifically for China under the China-exclusive AUDI brand. Two powertrain variants with system outputs of 300 kW and 500 kW, respectively, ensure exceptional performance. With the E7X, the AUDI brand enters the full-size SUV segment using products based on the Advanced Digitized Platform developed with SAIC. These next-generation intelligent connected vehicles are intended to complement Audi’s global portfolio in China. The AUDI E7X is also slated to introduce Level 3 highly automated driving functions, marking the global and Chinese debut of this technology for the Audi brand.

During the Group Media Night, the Volkswagen Group also provided a glimpse into the next major step toward AI-defined vehicles in China with its "Agent-based AI for All" roadmap. All vehicles based on the CEA platform launching in the second half of the year will come equipped with an onboard AI agent that utilizes a locally trained Large Language Model (LLM) as a natural language interface. Looking further ahead, the next-generation CEA 2.0 architecture is expected to unify intelligent driving and cockpit functions on a more powerful central computing platform starting in 2027.
