Nvidia is aggressively advancing its ambitions in the automotive sector by building a vast ecosystem for autonomous driving. Major automakers BYD, Geely, and Nissan are planning Level 4-capable vehicles powered by the Nvidia Drive Hyperion platform. Meanwhile, Isuzu and the Japanese deep-tech startup Tier IV are developing Level 4 autonomous buses using the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor system-on-a-chip, a core component of the Hyperion suite. The combination of the Hyperion platform and Nvidia Alpamayo models allows vehicles to perceive their surroundings, analyze complex scenarios, and act safely—paving the way for scalable Level 4 autonomy.

Furthermore, Hyundai and Kia, along with their robotaxi joint venture Motional, intend to deepen their collaboration with Nvidia. Hyundai plans to implement Nvidia-powered driver assistance systems starting at Level 2 across its vehicle lineup. Motional is also exploring an expanded partnership to further refine its Level 4 robotaxi capabilities and accelerate the rollout of next-generation autonomous mobility services.

Uber and Nvidia are also set to scale their robotaxi partnership. The launch is scheduled for Los Angeles and San Francisco in the first half of 2027, with plans to expand the driverless fleet to 28 cities across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia by 2028. This rollout will also center on the Nvidia Drive Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform and Nvidia Alpamayo.

Additionally, Bolt is planning a collaboration with Nvidia in the robotaxi space. Under this agreement, Nvidia will provide the Drive Hyperion technology, while Bolt contributes its extensive fleet data. This partnership aims to establish the AI foundation necessary to scale autonomous vehicles across Europe.
