With this model, Audi aims to significantly broaden access to electric mobility. According to the company, the A2 e-tron is designed to appeal to a wide international customer base that prioritizes urban practicality, sustainability, high efficiency, and digital connectivity. Positioned below the Q4 e-tron, the vehicle serves as the new clear entry point into the brand's electric portfolio. It is engineered specifically to meet the demands of city traffic while maintaining Audi's premium standards. The new A2 e-tron will be manufactured at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt. 

Following the launch of over 20 new models in 2024 and 2025, Audi states it currently holds the youngest portfolio among its competitors—ranging from the all-electric compact segment to the luxury class. The company intends to maintain this momentum through 2026, focusing on two series that strategically round out the portfolio: the Audi Q9 at the top end and the Audi A2 e-tron in the compact segment.
