Interview
Michael NeumannExecutive Vice President Global Sales and Customer Development, ZF Group

1. What key trends are currently shaping the development of your field?

The automotive industry is undergoing a historic transformation. Electrification, software-defined vehicles, automated driving and artificial intelligence are fundamentally changing technologies and future development cycles. At the same time, global market shifts, geopolitical uncertainties and stricter regulations demand new responses. The key lies in combining innovation with global adaptability and local competitiveness.

2. How important is IAA MOBILITY as a platform to drive innovative ideas and collaborations?

IAA MOBILITY is a key pulse generator and driver of innovation in personal mobility. It brings together decision-makers and experts in person to discuss the latest trends, technologies and solutions. The event creates an ideal setting for personal exchange and joint progress. At the same time, it remains a powerful showcase for innovation — visible to customers, policymakers and the broader public alike.

3. What practical applications and collaborations do you expect to be highlighted at IAA MOBILITY?

We’re seeing highly dynamic, volatile and technologically diverse markets worldwide. This is reflected in powertrain systems, chassis technologies and software, including electronic architectures. Our customers expect shorter development cycles, faster innovation, better integration and optimized costs. To meet these demands, strong partnerships and future-ready ecosystems are essential. That’s exactly where IAA MOBILITY comes into play — enabling meaningful exchange and mutual inspiration.

4. What projects will you be showcasing at IAA MOBILITY?

We will present our latest solutions in vehicle motion control, electromobility and advanced driver assistance. A highlight is our Chassis 2.0 concept: intelligent actuators enabling new chassis functions via software. Our by-wire technologies and the software platform “cubiX” centrally control all chassis actuators. With the AI-powered “cubiX Tuner”, the complex calibration of driving dynamics becomes even more efficient.

In the electromobility space, we’re showcasing our SELECT platform – modular, flexible and high-performance – along with new range extender and hybrid solutions.

Modularity, compactness and efficiency are key characteristics of the entire ZF portfolio — complemented by advanced software, sensor technologies and artificial intelligence. Together, these solutions meet the demands of our customers and the rapidly evolving global markets.

5. How can IAA MOBILITY help make sustainable technologies and approaches more accessible to the broader public?

OEMs and suppliers are actively driving the transition toward cleaner, safer and more accessible mobility. The automotive industry today is not only offering fascinating vehicles but also a broad range of solutions and technologies for individual and autonomous mobility.

IAA MOBILITY showcases just how diverse and personalized mobility has become — connected, demand-driven and future-ready. Both in the Open Space and at the Summit, these innovations are made tangible for everyone.

6. How do you collaborate with OEMs to accelerate the implementation of innovations on the road?

Global competition is intense, and the pace is fast. More than ever, we are all challenged to accelerate our innovation efforts and enhance productivity — together, with a strong focus on execution.

To achieve this, we need more courage and greater speed. It’s about strengthening the capabilities we’re globally recognized for, while building new ones.

IAA MOBILITY provides the right setting for this. Together with our customers and partners, we aim to send a powerful signal of innovation from Munich.
