Olaf Scholz officially opened the IAA MOBILITY together with VDA President Hildegard Müller, Bavaria's Minister President Markus Söder and Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter
In the presence of VDA President Hildegard Müller, Bavaria's Minister President Markus Söder and Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz officially opened the second edition of the IAA MOBILITY on Tuesday afternoon in front of around 1,000 invited guests.
"The first revolution in mobility started in Munich 135 years ago. And the second revolution - towards climate-friendly mobility - is also at home here at IAA MOBILITY. It is the manufacturers of powerful, affordable and beautiful e-cars who make e-mobility attractive," said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the official opening.
"What we are witnessing here is a showcase of innovation, a mobility festival that makes the future tangible and inspires people. Whether it's pioneering solutions in the field of electromobility and digitalization, impressive progress in the expansion of recycling management and energy efficiency, or technical quantum leaps thanks to human and artificial intelligence: visitors will be able to see for themselves over the next few days - at the Open Space in downtown Munich as well as on the exhibition grounds," said VDA President Hildegard Müller in her opening speech.
"IAA MOBILITY and Bavaria are a perfect match. We are committed to the automobile. Mobility is part of our Bavarian DNA and stands for progress and freedom. Future concepts for the modern and sustainable mobility of tomorrow are presented here," said Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder.
"The IAA MOBILITY is breaking new ground. The show has transformed itself from a car show to a mobility platform. Munich is exactly the right location for this. Thanks to the interplay of excellent universities, the strong industrial companies based here in the transport and infrastructure sector and a very lively and creative start-up scene, Munich is virtually predestined to further develop transport and mobility in an innovative way," said Dieter Reiter, Lord Mayor of the City of Munich.
IAA Conference Debate: Interdisciplinary discussion on networking the various modes of transport
Right at the start of the IAA Conference, Bloomberg moderator Stefan Nicolai spoke with VDA President Hildegard Müller, Riese & Müller CEO Dr. Sandra Wolf, Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr and Dr. Michael Paterson of Deutsche Bahn about how we will get from A to B in our daily lives in the future. What role will modes of transportation such as bicycles, cars, trains and planes play in the future? What will be the social, environmental, and economic significance of these modes of transportation, and what decisions will need to be made by policymakers, business, and society to pave the way for this future? The answers were varied, but all participants agreed on one thing: the necessary infrastructure is needed.

At the IAA Conference, Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman wanted to know how sustainable mobility solutions can be affordable and accessible
In a panel discussion at the IAA Conference, Oscar winner Natalie Portman once again spoke with moderator Oliver Crook about her commitment to animal welfare, veganism and how each of us can make a small contribution to the fight against climate change. She also wanted to hear from industry representatives how sustainable mobility solutions can be made affordable and accessible. Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, who also gave a keynote speech on the opening day, and Riese & Müller CEO Dr. Sandra Wolf also took the stage for this discussion. Oliver Blume said that for him, attractive products, a good charging infrastructure and a favorable price are the key factors. The more electric cars you produce, the better you can scale and the more affordable the products become. Dr. Sandra Wolf pointed out that bicycles and e-bikes are already one of the most affordable means of transportation and are easily accessible. She believes that the goal must be to lower the price of mobility services for everyone, whether through sharing or subscription models. After the discussion, Natalie Portman went on a tour of IAA MOBILITY, where she visited the booths of BMW, ZF and Stromer

She also discussed her current research in astrobiology. After her keynote, Carson was given a tour by representatives from ZF and Zeiss, who explained how they are currently working on cutting-edge technologies. For example, Zeiss, a provider of micro-optical and holographic optical solutions, has been using its components in ESA and NASA space missions for years and is now looking to apply this technology to the automotive industry.
