A full day of expert sessions
The second day of the event featured a wide range of professional conferences. At the International Congress Center Messe München, the electronica Automotive Conference took place in Hall 3, where industry experts discussed the latest challenges and innovations in electronics and mobility. Key topics included electrification, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, hybrid and battery-electric drivetrains, lighting systems, supply chain disruptions, CO₂ neutrality, sustainability, and recycling.
In Hall 14, the E.ON New Energy Experience 2025 (NeX25)—IAA MOBILITY’s exclusive energy and mobility summit—brought together more than 1,000 participants, 60+ top-level speakers, and 25 partner companies to explore the energy transition. Through keynotes, panels, and expert sessions, they presented cutting-edge solutions for charging infrastructure, energy storage, flexibility services, and digital energy platforms.
Meanwhile, the World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) 2025 returned to IAA MOBILITY for the second time, hosted in Hall 5. This year’s focus: the evolving partnership between China and Germany in the fields of e-mobility and industrial innovation. Topics included digital transformation, AI, and cross-border collaboration in supply and manufacturing networks.
Additional forums addressed vehicle data cybersecurity, the global restructuring of automotive value chains, supplier strategies, and challenges for public transportation providers. Also on the agenda: the IAA Africa Day 2025 and the presentation of the BEST of Mobility Award in the evening.
Focus on software, AI, and inclusive mobility at the IAA Conference
The second day of the IAA Conference kicked off with the session “Why Diverse Mobility Is So Important,” featuring leaders like Dr. Sandra Wolf (CEO, Riese & Müller), Peter Bosch (CEO, CARIAD), Florian Huettl (CEO, Opel/Vauxhall & Managing Director, Stellantis Germany), and Dr. Arne Schneemann (Board Member, DB Regio Straße, DB Regio AG). They discussed the importance of diverse and inclusive mobility solutions.
Later, a compelling panel explored why Europe, China, and the US depend on a globally interconnected automotive industry. Experts from AWS and Siemens shared how businesses can develop the mindset and organizational structure needed to work with autonomous AI agents.
In a Visionary Talk, Sophia Flörsch shared her personal journey as a woman in a male-dominated sport, highlighting themes of resilience, comebacks, and her future ambitions in racing.
Google experts discussed “AI’s Transformative Role in Automotive”, while Jeff Chou (CEO & Co-Founder, Sonatus), Steve Basra (Global Head of Auto, Google Cloud), and Stephen Durach (SVP, Infotainment & Digital Products, BMW AG) explored the potential of Software-Defined Vehicles.
The session “Autonomous Driving as a Catalyst for Connected, Multimodal Mobility” examined how autonomous vehicles can be embedded into larger mobility ecosystems, which infrastructural and regulatory frameworks are required, and how seamless transportation chains can benefit end users.
Cycling Afternoon in the Yellow Forum
The Yellow Forum turned its spotlight on bicycles with a full Cycling Afternoon. Christina Diem-Puello, CEO of Deutsche Dienstrad GmbH, opened the session with a keynote on the future of sustainable bike leasing and her role as a female entrepreneur. This was followed by a lively discussion among experts from the bike industry, urban planning, and the investment scene on what the bike of the future looks like—and what strategies are crucial for long-term market success. Topics included user expectations, business models, technical standards, and the economic impact of sustainable mobility. Among the panelists: Wasilis von Rauch (Zukunft Fahrrad), Claudia Elif Stutz (BMV), Frank Aldorf (Lemmo Future), and Inga Schlichting (DB InfraGO AG).
Networking Tours and Innovation Spotlights at the IAA Summit
The IAA Summit continued its popular Networking Tours and Mobility Meetings, giving visitors the opportunity to explore curated exhibitor booths and gain valuable insights directly from experts.
Autobahn GmbH showcased its E|MPOWER project, which is testing dynamic, inductive charging of EVs while driving on a pilot stretch of the A6 highway near Amberg, Bavaria. Further sessions discussed how AI can boost productivity in the automotive sector, as well as advances in energy storage, bidirectional charging, and battery research.

Infotainment and family-friendly activities in the Open Space
In the IAA Open Space, families followed the Family Trail for a fun day of discovery. At Stop 3, Riese & Müller’s New Mobility Explorers made mobility accessible for kids, while Audi’s “Vorsprung durch Köpfchen” at Wittelsbacherplatz (Stop 4) challenged young minds with interactive activities.
On the ZNV Stage at Königsplatz, Lena Kleinschmidt (Commercial Director, HOLON GmbH) and Ulrike Ulsamer (Project Director ALIKE, Hamburger Hochbahn AG) discussed how public transit companies and private OEMs can co-create autonomous public transport. At the Citizen Lab on Marienplatz, the session “Driving the Future: Supporting Mobility Startups” highlighted how academia and industry are collaborating to accelerate mobility startups.
Also at the Citizen Lab, Bayern Innovativ hosted a thought-provoking session on future mobility scenarios: “How Will We Get from A to B in 2035? Mobility Trend Radar.” Another session, “Accessible Mobility: How People with Visual Impairments Can Navigate the City,” focused on inclusive transport solutions and how visually impaired individuals can move independently and safely in everyday life.
Closing with music
To wrap up the day, Munich-based band BLŸTE brought their mix of indie, punk, and synth-pop to the stage at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz near Siegestor—closing Day 2 with rhythm and style.
