The charging and energy services previously developed under "Mobilize Beyond Automotive" are being fully integrated into the Renault Group and merged under the new "Plug Inn" banner. This transition is the manufacturer's response to the growing importance of a consistent charging ecosystem for electric vehicles. The new brand structure is specifically designed to enhance strategic coherence, operational efficiency, and customer transparency.

The name itself was chosen with intent: "Plug" refers to the act of charging an electric vehicle, while "Inn" is meant to signify comfort, service, and user-friendliness.

Three Central Pillars of the Plug Inn Ecosystem

Under the "Plug Inn" brand, Renault will combine all relevant charging offers into a single, unified system based on three core pillars:

  • Plug Inn fast charge: The high-speed charging network located along major transit routes.
  • Plug Inn powerbox: A bidirectional charging solution featuring Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality.
  • Plug Inn charge pass: A Europe-wide payment system for public charging points.

The overarching goal is to combine hardware, services, and digital solutions into one seamless experience.

Focus on Quality and Service

A key component of this strategy remains the high-speed charging network launched in 2023, which has operated under the new name since April. These charging points offer capacities of up to 320 kW, allowing drivers to add up to 250 miles (400 kilometers) of range in about 15 minutes.

In a shift from original plans, Renault is moving away from rapid expansion in favor of a stronger focus on reliability and service quality. The stations are primarily located at Renault dealerships along major highways and are open to vehicles of all brands. At selected locations, premium lounges featuring Wi-Fi, workspaces, and relaxation zones complement the charging experience.
