Geely Unveils New 16-in-1 E-Drive System with 800-Volt Architecture

Geely has introduced its new 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive, an integrated electric drive unit set to feature in the upcoming Geely TT. The system combines core powertrain components into a compact unit designed to boost both the efficiency and overall performance of battery electric vehicles.

Built on an 800-volt architecture, the drive unit was co-developed with Geely’s technology partner InfiMotion. In total, the system integrates 16 electric drive functions and core components into a single compact housing. This allowed engineers to drop the total weight to 165 lbs (75 kg). At the same time, the integrated architecture shortens power delivery paths and reduces energy losses.
According to the automaker, the new electric drive achieves an overall CLTC efficiency rating of 93.8%. This is backed by smart power management as well as various design and manufacturing optimizations.

Record-Breaking Energy Efficiency
The system proved its efficiency during a test run around China's Qinghai Lake. Equipped with the new drive unit, the Geely TT logged a measured energy consumption of 8.20 kWh per 100 km (~13.2 kWh per 100 miles), setting a Guinness World Record for the lowest energy consumption by a production battery electric sedan on that route.
Up to 425 kW System Output
In addition to high energy efficiency, Geely is targeting enhanced driving dynamics. The system supports a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration delivering a combined output of 425 kW (570 hp). This setup enables acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds.
An integrated control architecture with AI-assisted torque management provides faster response times, more precise power distribution, and stable power delivery even under heavy loads.

New Cooling and Lubrication Technologies
To sustain high performance over time, Geely uses a newly developed 54-channel directional cooling system designed to reduce peak motor temperatures by up to 27°F (15°C). This is paired with an active lubrication system for shaft and gear components to improve the powertrain's thermal stability.
According to company figures, the system is engineered for a service life of 3.1 million miles (5 million kilometers) and underwent extensive validation across component, system, and vehicle-level testing.
Second Guinness World Record
During an additional endurance test, the Geely TT completed a tandem two-vehicle drift over a distance of more than 28.6 miles (46 kilometers) on a wet track. This earned the vehicle a second Guinness World Record for the longest continuous tandem drift by electric vehicles on a wet surface. The test was specifically designed to demonstrate the electric drive system's long-term endurance, torque control, and thermal management under demanding conditions.
