The car highlights at the IAA MOBILITY 2023

From September 5 to 10, numerous car manufacturers will present various world and European premieres or model innovations at the IAA MOBILITY in Munich. We have made a selection and present the highlights:

Highlights

BMW 

At the IAA Summit, BMW will present the BMW Vision New Class, a concept car that brings together all of the company's future innovations in the areas of electrification, digitalization and circularity. The BMW i7 Protection, the world's first certified all-electric special protection sedan, will also be unveiled.  The BMW brand MINI will also present the new all-electric MINI Cooper and the new all-electric MINI Countryman. With the BMW CE 02, BMW Motorrad is once again presenting an e-Parkourer as a model innovation. BMW also presents the new plug-in hybrid models of the new BMW 5 Series. With the BMW iX1, BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW iX and the BMW i7, BMW is also presenting all the other new models of the brand at IAA MOBILITY.    

Audi

German automaker Audi will once again be celebrating the German premiere of the Audi activesphere concept electric concept car at the IAA Open Space - and intends to use it to preview what a five-meter electric crossover could look like in the future. Audi will also be using various examples to show how material cycles can be closed in the course of recycling management for reuse in series production. Here, trade visitors can learn about the new interior of the Audi Q6 e-tron, which will be on display as a camouflaged prototype. Other exhibits at the Volkswagen Group stand include a PPE powertrain and insights into the technical principles of future e-mobility at Audi.

Mercedes-Benz

At IAA MOBILITY, Mercedes-Benz will once again present a concept vehicle in the IAA Open Space, which is intended to provide a preview of the brand's vision for the future in the entry-level segment. In addition to the concept vehicle, visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Pavilion will also be able to experience all the other current and future electric vehicles bearing the Mercedes star - from compact models to performance sedans and from luxury SUVs to full-size sedans. This includes the world premiere of the new E-Class All-Terrain. Visitors will also see the all-electric VISION EQXX and the Vision One-Eleven super sports car. The facelifted EQA, EQB and EQV will also be on display at the IAA Summit.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen is also making a big appearance at the show. The new Passat, which will be on show for the first time at the IAA MOBILITY, will be presented and is set to become significantly larger once again. Of course, Volkswagen will also bring the ID.7 to Munich, where series production has just started. The ID.7 GTX will also celebrate its world premiere and will be Volkswagen's third GTX model after the ID.4 and ID.5. The GTX models combine electromobility, sustainability and intelligent sportiness. Equipped with the latest drive generation of the ID.models, the dual-motor all-wheel drive, the Wolfsburg-based company aims to combine efficiency, dynamics and driving stability. Slightly camouflaged, the next Tiguan is also expected at the IAA MOBILITY.

Opel

At the IAA MOBILITY in Munich, Opel also wants to show how it wants to make electric mobility an experience for everyone and even more suitable for everyday use - and what the future of the brand will look like. To this end, the company will present the Opel Experimental concept car with a modern body design and a spacious, illuminated interior. The company will also present the Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric to the public. The compact-class bestseller will be fully electric for the first time, adding another variant to the Opel Astra Electric range. At the same time, the Opel Corsa Electric will be presented as even more efficient, with more power and more range.  Other models Opel will show include the Rocks e-XTREME and the Rocks Electric KARGO micro LCV.

BYD

At the IAA MOBILITY, Chinese automaker BYD will present the European premiere of the SEAL U, an SUV offshoot of the Seal e-sedan. It is said to offer versatility, comfort and spaciousness.  At the IAA MOBILITY, BYD also plans to present its proprietary cell-to-body technology, which is used in the SEAL to integrate the batteries. Here, the lid of the battery housing also serves as the floor of the body. In addition, the iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaption Control) technology, which is designed to improve the stability and safety of BYD models, will be on display.  For the first time in Europe, BYD will also showcase its luxury sub-brand Denza, a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, at IAA MOBILITY. The Denza D9 is a seven-seat, premium-segment, full-size sedan.

Renault

French automaker Renault will unveil the Scenic E-Tech Electric to the world at IAA MOBILITY 2023. It joins the company's electric portfolio, which already includes the Megane E-Tech Electric, Twingo E-Tech Electric and ZOE E-Tech Electric. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle is the brand's first production model to embody the Renault ution sustainability strategy, which Renault unveiled in January 2021. With a comprehensive model offensive focused on electric mobility, Renault had announced the greenest powertrain mix of any manufacturer in Europe at the time and unveiled a first vehicle at the 2022 ChangeNOW Summit in Paris with the Scenic Vision concept car. At the time, it featured a hybrid powertrain with a fuel cell, battery and hydrogen tank. The new Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric is the first production vehicle to incorporate the new sustainable development strategy, including environmental, safety and social aspects. The first pre-production models of the vehicle will be tested on the road from this summer.

Ford

Carmaker Ford also plans to use the industry meeting in Munich for a product show. At the Königsplatz, fans of the brand will be able to get a close look at the Ford Explorer, which will make its debut in this impressive setting, as well as the Mustang Mach-E, the F-150 Lightning and the E-Tourneo Courier. Ford announced the Bronco, Ranger Raptor and Mustang Dark Horse as visual presentations. In addition, horsepower and electric enthusiasts can test drive the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

MG

The Chinese automaker MG has dedicated itself to sportiness and is showing three all-electric models at IAA MOBILITY: the MG4 Electric XPower, the MG Marvel R Electric Performance and the MG Cyberster. The "Xpower" arrives at dealerships with 320 kW/435 hp. The Marvel R family SUV will be presented in its top version with 212 kW/288 hp. Another MG highlight is the all-electric Cyberster, a 4.50 meter long roadster. It makes its European debut at the IAA MOBILITY.

CUPRA

CUPRA will present the CUPRa DarkRebel show car at the IAA MOBILITY in Munich. The concept car tests ideas of design and performance to the limits. For example, the DarkRebel uses the latest technologies from video game development. The digital model was first presented at the CUPRA Exponential Impulse event in Berlin in April.

Porsche

Porsche is also celebrating something special at the IAA MOBILITY - the 60th birthday of the 911 sports car series, where the company is showing a purist special model. Weighing in at 1380 kilograms, it is the lightest version of the current generation of the sports car series to date and features high-revving boxer engines and a manual transmission. A total of 1963 units will be built at a price of 292,187 euros.   The 911 L Coupé, Mission X, Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, Taycan Turbo S and 718 Spyder RS will also be on display.

Smart

Smart is celebrating the European premiere of the Smart#3 at the IAA MOBILITY. The battery-electric compact crossover SUV is the second vehicle from Smart Automobile, a joint venture between the Mercedes-Benz Group and Geely Holding, which was responsible for the Smart#1. The Smart#3 will make its world debut in Shanghai in April 2023.

Tesla

US electric car manufacturer Tesla has unveiled the revised version of the Model 3 in Oslo, which has been awaited for months. Six years after the first car rolled off the assembly line and more than 2 million units later, the rear-wheel drive Model 3 and the long-range all-wheel drive version have been significantly upgraded.  IAA MOBILITY will see the German premiere of the Tesla Model 3.
