For the first time, the iconic standing Mercedes star on the hood is available with optional illumination. It is flanked by a redesigned grille that is roughly 20 percent larger and also illuminated. New DIGITAL LIGHT headlights featuring a "twin-star" design and micro-LED technology produce a high-resolution light field that is approximately 40 percent larger than before. At the rear, redesigned taillights featuring three chrome stars emphasize the brand’s signature aesthetic.

The advanced DIGITAL LIGHT system pairs micro-LEDs with a new high-performance chip. This results in a brighter, more energy-efficient high beam with a range of up to 600 meters (approx. 1,970 ft). Adaptive high-beam functions, precision cornering lights, and deep integration with map and camera data significantly improve visibility and safety, particularly during night driving.

MB.OS: The Digital Backbone, Next-Gen Driver Assistance with MB.DRIVE, MBUX Superscreen and AI-Driven Interaction

The heart of the new S-Class is the proprietary Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This software-driven supercomputer connects every vehicle domain—from infotainment and driver assistance to the powertrain. Over-the-air (OTA) updates via the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud ensure that numerous features remain up to date throughout the vehicle's entire lifespan.

A new computing architecture, ten cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors form the foundation of MB.DRIVE. MB.DRIVE ASSIST (featuring DISTRONIC and Steering Assist) is part of the standard equipment. Furthermore, MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO enables a point-to-point automated driving experience even in heavy city traffic —launching first in China, followed by the US and other global markets. This is complemented by enhanced parking systems that now recognize diagonal parking spots for faster, more convenient maneuvers.

The interior is defined by the standard MBUX super screen, which houses the central and passenger displays under a single, seamless glass surface. The fourth-generation MBUX introduces multiple AI agents, including generative AI, enabling natural, multi-step dialogs with the "Hey Mercedes" Virtual Assistant. A new "Zero Layer" interface, over 40 downloadable apps, and Google Maps-based navigation with an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display further enhance ease of use and situational awareness.

The new powertrain lineup ranges from electrified six- and eight-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines to a plug-in hybrid

The optional First-Class Rear on the long-wheelbase (LWB) version transforms the cabin into a mobile business lounge, featuring two 13.1-inch (33.3 cm) displays, removable MBUX remotes, and integrated video conferencing tech. With integrated streaming services and Burmester® 4D Surround Sound featuring Dolby Atmos®, the S-Class creates an environment that functions as both a high-tech workspace and a luxury retreat.

Innovations such as heated seatbelts, Digital Vent Control, and a new electric cabin filter with ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL improve overall well-being and air quality. An advanced restraint system with PRE-SAFE® Impulse buckle tensioners and up to 15 airbags protects passengers in every seat. Additionally, with the S 680 GUARD 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz offers the world’s only factory-certified VR10 ballistic protection luxury sedan.

The new powertrain lineup ranges from electrified six- and eight-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines to a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of approximately 100 km (62 miles). The new V8 in the S 580 4MATIC delivers 537 hp (395 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. All engines are supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an Integrated Starter-Generator (ISG).
