Volkswagen and Rivian have formed a joint venture focused on software-defined electric vehicles. Operating under the name "Rivian and VW Group Technology, LLC," the venture will be headquartered in Palo Alto, with additional locations in Europe and North America. The partnership builds on Rivian's existing software architecture and aims to develop advanced vehicle technologies to debut in VW models by 2027. Volkswagen plans to invest up to $5.8 billion in the venture to create a unified platform for MEB and premium models, including Porsche and Scout.

Riese & Müller has introduced new features to its "RX Connect App" for Bosch Smart System-equipped e-bikes. The updates enable users to access real-time riding data, including speed, battery status, pedal power, and CO₂ savings, via Bluetooth. Additional improvements include landscape mode support and enhanced offline functionality for stable usage in areas with limited connectivity. 

Cadillac

Cadillac has revealed the Vistiq, a large electric SUV featuring a 102-kWh battery, all-wheel drive, and 459 kW of power. The Vistiq can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and offers a range of 300 miles. A key feature is its bidirectional charging capability, "Vehicle-to-Home" (V2H), which allows the vehicle's battery to serve as a power source for homes during outages. Production is set to begin in 2025.

Japanese tech leaders Nidec and Renesas have developed an 8-in-1 electric axle, integrating components for drivetrain, power electronics, and energy management into a single compact unit. The system includes a motor, inverter, onboard charger, DC/DC converter, and battery management system, all controlled by a single microcontroller. The design aims to reduce part count, weight, and costs.

Lemmo has unveiled the One E+ R.A.W., a limited edition of its urban e-bike, restricted to 200 units. The special model features a metallic finish, stealth seat suspension, and a universal phone mount. Weighing 18 kg, the bike includes a detachable Smartpac battery that allows for quick conversion between e-bike and traditional bike modes.

LG Electronics has introduced its "Mobility Labworks Series Digital Cockpit," an advanced infotainment system for next-generation vehicles. It includes a 12.3-inch transparent OLED display and a 14.2-inch rollable P-OLED screen. The AI-driven virtual assistant detects driver fatigue and can suggest activating autonomous driving mode or scheduling breaks. Fingerprint sensors enable in-car purchases and transactions.

Hyundai has debuted the Initium hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, showcasing a range of over 400 miles and a bold "Art of Steel" design. Features include 21-inch wheels and a distinctive "+" light signature at the front. The Initium offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for external device charging and a hydrogen-specific route planner. Safety innovations include a multi-layered front structure, reinforced side panels, and nine airbags.

German startup Polaris Spaceplanes has achieved a milestone by successfully test-firing an aerospike rocket engine during flight. The MIRA 2 demonstrator, launched from Peenemünde Airport, produced 900 Newtons of thrust. Aerospike engines are highly efficient, adapting automatically to air pressure and potentially eliminating the need for multi-stage rockets.

Cariad and TomTom have developed a new navigation solution tailored for Volkswagen Group's electric vehicles. The system optimizes route planning by factoring in traffic, charging station availability, and driving behavior. The cloud-based platform seamlessly switches to offline mode in areas with no connectivity. 

Heybike

U.S.-based e-bike brand Heybike has announced the launch of four new models in Europe under the Galaxy Series. These include the Galaxy C, an urban bike with a 500-Wh battery and a 62-mile range, and the Galaxy T, a trekking bike with 74 miles of range. Compact models Galaxy X and K offer ranges of up to 44 miles, ideal for short commutes.

Honda has unveiled two electric motorcycle concepts: the EV Fun and the EV Urban Scooter. The EV Fun offers the performance of a 650cc motorcycle and fast charging via CCS2. It features a lightweight design with a fixed battery pack, perfect for urban use. The EV Urban Scooter is optimized for city commutes and takes inspiration from models like the BMW CE 04. 

Piggigreen

Piggigreen and Sonnenrepublik have launched the Piggibike charger, which allows e-bike batteries to charge via a 12V car socket or solar panels. With 85W charging power, a typical 500-Wh battery can be fully charged in six hours. The robust, IP68-rated charger is designed for outdoor use and resists overheating and short circuits. It’s priced at €199, with a €59 adapter for use on bike racks during travel. 

Porsche

Porsche has introduced updated Taycan models, including the Taycan 4 and GTS trims, set to launch in early 2025. The Taycan 4 offers up to 400 miles of range, while GTS models deliver 690 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds. 

Hubject and Vector have partnered to simplify the integration of Plug&Charge technology for EVs, supporting OCPP 2.1 for bidirectional charging and dynamic pricing. 

LiveWire, Harley-Davidson’s EV arm, is collaborating with Kymco on an electric maxi-scooter. Set for release in early 2026, the scooter targets commuters seeking high performance and versatility.
