1. What key trends do you see currently shaping the development of your field?
One of the most transformative developments in the automotive sector is the global shift toward electrification. This is, of course, far more than a passing trend – it’s a fundamental redefinition of how we think about mobility. The move from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles is no longer a future vision – it’s happening right now. At Lucid, we’re not just responding to this shift; we’re helping lead it by setting new benchmarks in range, efficiency, and performance.
Another major trend is the convergence of software and hardware in vehicle development. At Lucid, we operate with a vertically integrated approach – combining design, engineering, production, and overarching software development entirely in-house. This enables seamless integration of performance, design, and digital ecosystems.
Finally, we’re also seeing a growing demand for sustainable premium products. Customers want high performance and elegant design, but with a clear conscience. We don’t want them to make compromises. That’s why we’re focused on delivering vehicles like the Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, which combine innovation and comfort with environmental responsibility.
2. How important is the IAA MOBILITY as a platform to drive forward innovative ideas and collaborations?
IAA MOBILITY has become one of the most important global platforms for shaping the future of mobility. It’s no longer just an auto show – it’s a hub for innovation, sustainability, and cross-industry collaboration. The event brings together automakers, tech companies, infrastructure providers, and policymakers, creating a unique space where ideas can be exchanged and partnerships formed.
For Lucid, it’s a valuable opportunity to showcase our vision for sustainable premium mobility, connect with key stakeholders, and stay at the forefront of emerging trends – from electrification and software-defined vehicles to smart infrastructure, and circular economy solutions. Events like IAA MOBILITY help accelerate progress by turning bold ideas into real-world solutions.
3. What practical applications and collaborations do you expect to be highlighted at the IAA MOBILITY?
At IAA MOBILITY, I expect to see real-world progress in electrification, especially around charging infrastructure and battery innovation. For Lucid, it’s about showing how our vehicles integrate performance, sustainability, and smart technology. We’re also seeing more cross-industry collaborations – automotive, tech, and energy sectors coming together to shape the future of mobility. And of course, software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving will be a major theme, as they redefine how we think about the driving experience.
4. What projects will you like to showcase at the IAA MOBILITY?
For Lucid, IAA MOBILITY 2025 represents a major milestone in our European journey. We’re proud to officially launch our all-new electric SUV, the Lucid Gravity, in Europe. This is our second vehicle and a bold evolution of our vision – combining exceptional performance, spacious design, and cutting-edge technology in a way that redefines what an electric SUV can be – without compromise.
With the Lucid Gravity, we’re entering a new and promising market segment – specifically targeting consumers who seek to combine sustainable mobility with premium standards. The SUV offers space for up to seven adults, more than 3,000 liters of flexible cargo capacity, and a range of approximately 750 kilometers (manufacturer’s estimate; WLTP homologation pending). It’s engineered to meet the diverse demands of European roads – from unrestricted Autobahn stretches to narrow Alpine switchbacks. Thanks to its versatility, performance, efficiency, and charging speed, the Gravity is a compelling solution for discerning drivers: efficient, powerful, and uncompromisingly sustainable.
Visit us from September 9 to 12 in the Open Space, Residenzhof, Stand RB680 Brunnenhof at IAA MOBILITY. On September 11, we’re hosting a special design and tech session in our Lucid Studio with Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand, offering exclusive insights into the Californian design philosophy behind Lucid and the Lucid Gravity. Eric Bach, Senior Vice President of Product und Chief Engineer, will lead a tech deep dive, revealing the engineering expertise that powers the world’s most advanced electric vehicles.
We look forward to connecting with you there!
5. How can the IAA MOBILITY help make sustainable technologies and approaches accessible to a wider audience?
IAA MOBILITY plays a key role in bridging innovation and public awareness. By bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and consumers, it creates a platform where sustainable technologies aren’t just showcased – they’re experienced. The Open Space format especially supports this by making mobility innovation accessible to everyone, not just automotive enthusiasts. It invites the public to engage, get inspired, and informed.
For Lucid, it’s an opportunity to demonstrate how electric mobility can be both aspirational and approachable. Events like these help shift perceptions and accelerate adoption by making the future of mobility tangible and relatable.
6. In what ways do you work with OEMs to accelerate the implementation of innovations in vehicles?
At Lucid, our commitment has always been to build the world’s most advanced electric vehicles – and that hasn’t changed. With Lucid Gravity coming to market and our midsize platform well underway, we’re incredibly excited about the strength of our vehicle line-up.
At the same time, we see significant opportunity to leverage our proprietary technology to help other OEMs accelerate their own EV programs. The systems we’ve developed – whether it’s our powertrain, battery architecture, or software – are second to none. That’s why we’re in ongoing discussions with several partners, and why we’ve already entered into a technology agreement with Aston Martin, who will use Lucid technology in their future electric vehicles.
These collaborations allow us to scale our impact and help move the entire industry forward, faster.
