4screen has developed the world’s first driver interaction platform that connects drivers with their surroundings in real time via the car display. It enables automakers to unlock new digital business models while enhancing the in-car user experience. Thanks to its agnostic architecture, the solution is seamlessly integrable, secure, privacy-compliant, and compatible across operating systems. As a pioneer in driver interaction, 4screen offers businesses along the route an effective channel to interact with drivers directly in their vehicles. The platform is already integrated into the systems of 15 leading automotive brands – including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Stellantis – and is used in thirteen countries by over 100 brands such as McDonald's, Shell, and Waitrose.

Interview
with Fabian BesteCEO and founder

1. What key trends do you see currently shaping the development of your field?

First, vehicles are evolving into software-centric, digitally connected devices. With increasingly larger, high-resolution cockpit displays – often up to 20 times bigger than smartphone screens and always on – cars are becoming digital platforms on wheels. This opens entirely new opportunities for personalized driving experiences and innovative digital services.

Secondly, drivers increasingly expect their vehicles to act like digital assistants. On average, they spend around 60 minutes behind the wheel each day – time during which they value contextual support from their car. With more than 200 sensors, vehicles can now capture contextual information in real time, enabling them to deliver location- and situation-specific content.

Third, the monetization of these in-car touchpoints is moving further into focus. Vehicle displays are becoming a safe, direct communication channel to a highly relevant and often purchase-ready audience – and this is exactly where 4screen comes in, enabling the creation of new digital revenue streams.

2. How important is the IAA MOBILITY as a platform to drive forward innovative ideas and collaborations?

The IAA MOBILITY is one of the most important platforms for us to make innovations in the mobility sector tangible. It brings together automakers, technology companies, and partners from around the world – the perfect environment to present new ideas, initiate collaborations, and strengthen existing partnerships.

3. What practical applications and collaborations do you expect to be highlighted at the IAA MOBILITY?

We expect the IAA MOBILITY to showcase practical applications that make the major industry trends tangible – from software-defined vehicles and intelligent assistance systems to connected mobility solutions. What’s particularly exciting is the mix of established automakers and innovative young companies working together to drive new ideas and shape the future of mobility.

4. What projects will you like to showcase at the IAA MOBILITY?

At IAA MOBILITY, we are showcasing our OEM-agnostic Driver Interaction Platform by demonstrating how 4screen transforms vehicle displays into a new digital communication channel. At our booth (Hall A2, Stand D40), visitors can experience our solution directly in exhibition vehicles – with live product demos that show how brands can interact with drivers in real time. We’re also providing insights into a technology already integrated into the systems of 15 global automakers and used by more than 100 leading brands, including the automakers themselves.

5. How can the IAA MOBILITY help make sustainable technologies and approaches accessible to a wider audience?

IAA MOBILITY offers a unique platform not only to present sustainable technologies but also to make them truly tangible – for both industry professionals and end users alike. Through direct exchange, live demonstrations, and the broad media reach of the event, innovations can gain visibility that often remain in the background. In this way, sustainable mobility becomes tangible and accessible to a wide audience.

6. In what ways do you work with OEMs to accelerate the implementation of innovations in vehicles?

We work closely and collaboratively with automakers by seamlessly integrating our technology into existing systems – independent of manufacturer or platform. Our solution can be rolled out across fleets at no additional cost while always preserving the automaker’s native user interface. Through close coordination with development teams and agile project execution, we bring our innovative technology to the road quickly and efficiently. This creates the foundation to not only develop innovations but also make them available to drivers in a timely and tangible way.
