Quanten Showcases Rare-earth-Free High-performance Electric Motors and Drive Systems at IAA MOBILITY 2025
Quanten Technologies will present its latest breakthroughs in high-performance rare-earth-free electric drive systems at IAA MOBILITY 2025 (Hall B3, Booth D131)in Munich from September 7 to 14. Demonstrating its commitment to redefining greener electrification across mobility sectors, Quanten will unveil advancements that push the boundaries of performance, reliability, system cost and design flexibility in electric drives for various vehicles, robotics, and eVTOL platforms while eliminating or reducing the use of rare-earth materials in motors.

Unleashing the power of Dynamic Drive Intelligence, Quanten’s core innovation lies in its proprietary software-defined electric drive technology, featuring dynamic pole/phase reconfiguration in smart multi-phase motors (typically 9-phase). This unique approach enables real-time optimization of drive performance, achieving up to 50% higher power density and 30% reduction in material costs over conventional systems, and can be applied to various motor topologies, including induction motors, electrically-excited synchronous motors, PM motors and others. Quanten’s dynamic reconfiguration technology enables motors and drives to reach a performance level surpassing permanent magnet motors with no or less rare-earth materials.

These advances position Quanten’s drive platforms as key enablers for highly compact, intelligent, and cost-effective powertrains across applications ranging from light-duty electric trucks and passenger vehicles to humanoid robotics and eVTOL propulsion systems.

Enabling Future-Ready Vehicle Architectures, Quanten’s smart multi-phase electric drive systems open the door to reimagined EV architectures. With their small size, high efficiency and fault-tolerant characteristics, Quanten’s technology support greater design freedom for OEMs looking to reduce system complexity while exceeding the stringent performance demands of next-gen mobility platforms, including providing redundancy in powertrain for utmost reliability in autonomous vehicles. Quanten has already collaborated with multiple leading automakers and robot companies in various market segments with their two core product platforms: high performance boost drives and cost effective main drives.
Quanten has established a pilot production base with an annual capacity of 100,000 integrated units, and started pioneer production of rare-earth-free drive systems, and completed product development of reduced-rare-earth synchronous motor drive systems. These products address the fundamental technical bottlenecks in automotive drives and are well suited for the stringent requirements in emerging applications such as humanoid joint motors and eVTOL propulsion motors. Notably, Quanten’s robot joint motors drastically outperform existing frameless motors in power density and efficiency, enabling compact, efficient, and durable linear/rotary joints and paving the way for smaller, smarter, and more agile robotic systems with enhanced real-world utility.
