Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology.

What does "Experience Connected Mobility" mean to you?
Addressing different senses – and connecting different worlds. The 2D configurator on desktop becomes an interactive configurator in three-dimensional space, advertisement is brought to life by technologies such as augmented reality, and separate systems - cars, public transport, last mile - become integrated mobility offers.
What do you hope to achieve at IAA MOBILITY 2023?
With over 3 billion people across Meta platforms, this makes it the largest connected audience on the planet. A new, future-oriented mobility will only succeed if it is adopted by the masses. At IAA, we’re here to listen and learn from our partners what their journey towards connected mobility looks like - and discuss how we can help to accelerate growth and business success in concrete terms. This can imply brand building, supporting digital sales of cars and mobility solutions, and the application of new technologies, as our research project with the BMW Group illustrates.
Which essential topic of the future receives too little attention from the public?
Data and signals are essential in the future - for consumers as well as for providers of mobility solutions. Data protection and transparency on the one hand, and a personalized and therefore more relevant customer experience on the other - also supported by AI - are not a contradiction in terms. Understanding that and working together on solutions will be a major but necessary task in the coming years to be successful in a highly competitive environment.
In which area of mobility do you see the greatest potential and where do you see the greatest need to catch up?
Electromobility offers the greatest potential. With the appropriate infrastructure and decisive action by politics and economy, it will make a major contribution to a more climate-friendly and forward-looking mobility.
Digital consumer journeys, on the other hand, are still falling short of what’s possible, especially in Germany. Consumers who grew up with digital media expect to be able to discover, experience and buy products and services digitally, seamlessly and from their smartphone. This applies both to low-priced services such as local public transport and to high-priced products such as new cars. The technologies to make this happen are already here today, the implementation is still behind.
IAA MOBILITY is the leading global mobility platform. It connects innovators from all spectrums of mobility. Who do you want to network with in September and why?
We look forward to meeting many of our partners to discuss the challenges and innovations of our time, with industry thought leaders showing what is possible, with interested visitors stopping by at our booth to experience first-hand what the next version of the internet and virtual reality feels like. If you want to see for yourself, come and find us at Königsplatz!
The world is fundamentally changing. Innovation and also the endeavors in the mobility sector are bigger than ever before. What is your vision of the world in 20 years?
Personally, I envision a world where "connected mobility" becomes reality, accounting for different ways of life and both urban and rural areas. A world where the modes of mobility are defined by the purpose, not by ownership. A world in which mobility is emission-free.
